Gasoline Market Update

December gasoline RBZ4, -0.47%  rose less than a penny, or 0.2%, to end at $2.1070 a gallon on Nymex. 

December heating oil HOZ4, -0.31%  lost 2 cents, or 0.9%, to finish at $2.4469 a gallon on Nymex.

Gas Market Update



Natural gas for December delivery NGZ14, -1.22%  retreated 6 cents, or 1.5%, to settle at $4.1850 per million British thermal units. Natural gas has been down for three straight sessions.

Oil prices settle at three-year low

Oil prices on Wednesday settled at their lowest since 2011, sinking as a drop in OPEC production last month nearly matched output increases from countries outside the cartel.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange, light, sweet crude futures for delivery in December CLZ0, -0.51%  fell 76 cents, or 1%, to finish at $77.18 a barrel. That’s oil lowest settlement since Oct. 4, 2011. New York-traded oil futures are down 22% so far this year.

December Brent crude LCOZ4, -0.45% on London’s ICE Futures exchange fell $1.29, or 1.6%, to end at $80.38 a barrel.

Gold finishes lower, surrendering prior session’s gains

Gold closed lower on Wednesday, giving up gains from the previous session, as the precious metal is expected to face more selling pressure in the coming days.

Gold prices GCZ4, +0.23%  slid $3.90 to settle at $1,159.10 an ounce. December silver SIZ4, +0.14%  eased 6 cents at $15.62 an ounce.

Last Thursday, gold settled at $1,142.60, its lowest level of the year. Prices approached that level again on Tuesday, but managed to finish in green territory by session’s end.
